Each spring, our community comes together on the campus of UNC to show our support for teachers, students, and public education. We can’t gather in the same way this year, but we are still planning a great event to support students and their families who are affected financially by the pandemic.
Supporting Covid Relief
Since March 2020, the district’s departments of Child Nutrition, Transportation and the Volunteer Office have teamed up to serve an astounding 1 Million Meals. Generous donations to the Public School Foundation also purchased snacks, milk, eggs, produce, and holiday meals. In addition, our social workers have been hard at working helping families find assistance for paying rent, utility, childcare and other bills. None of these programs would be possible without the support of our amazing community. This year’s 5 day virtual event will encourage students to get moving while raising funds for the district’s Food for Students and Covid relief programs. Donate and register for a tee shirt below.
Fitness Challenge
During the week of March 15th, the Public School Foundation will post a short video each day with a fitness challenge. The videos will feature some familiar faces that we think you will be excited to see, so don’t miss a day. Students will be encouraged to log their activity and we will have a dashboard that shows which school is moving the most! The winning school will receive a grant from the Public School Foundation for new PE equipment.
