Public School Foundation Distributes 4,500 Roses

Posted

Classrooms, offices and school mailboxes were decorated Wednesday with thousands of roses that were distributed across the school system to teachers and assistants, support staff, administrators, school bus drivers, and more by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation. The roses were ordered by students and parents as tokens of appreciation for the work of all school district staff. The roses and Teachers' Breakfast on Friday, May 4th are part of the celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week.

All proceeds from the roses and breakfasts go into a fund that supports programs for teachers and staff. Squid's, part of the Chapel Hill Restaurant Group, donates ALL of the food for the breakfast and the labor, supplemented with foundation board members. The fund supports professional development including the SmartBoard initiative, classroom grants, materials for Educator Extra Credit, the teacher store, and teacher awards.
