20th Annual Walk for Education - October 15, 2016

Start thinking about how to promote the Walk for Education in your school. Get creative, assemble teams, consult the website for information and helpful tips, and ask PSF for assistance.

Envelope Pickup and Online Training Tuesday, September 6 at 11am

Come to the Carolina Center for Educational Excellence (next to Smith Middle School) to pick up your envelopes and learn how to use the new and improved online data collection system.  Bring your laptop, if you have one.

Envelope Distribution

Wed., Sept. 5 through Mon., Sept. 12

Attach any school-specific information and distribute envelopes to teachers to send home with students.

 

Teacher T-Shirt Count

Wednesday, September 14

Poll teachers/staff to determine who will wear a shirt to promote the Walk. Each school receives complimentary t-shirts based on number of staff members. Additional shirts are $10. Numbers and sizes due this day.

Yard Sign Deployment

Sat., Sept. 17 through Mon., Sept. 19

Display “Envelopes Due this Friday” yard sign supplied by PSF in prominent location by school to remind students and parents to turn envelopes in on time.

Return Envelope Deadline

Friday, Sept. 30

All donor envelopes are due back to you on this date. Use spreadsheet to calculate the funds raised and the incentive tallies.

Tallies Due

Tuesday, Oct. 4

Finish entering data from envelopes. Online entries will be finalized.  School raised funds and tallies for incentives will be calculated.

Banking Day and Incentive Pickup

Thursday, October 6

Turn in money and signed envelopes and pick up incentives (t-shirts, wristbands, and raffle tickets) at Bank of NC in Southern Village at scheduled time. Signup for times will be available closer to this day.

Incentive Distribution

Friday, October 7 - Monday, October 10

Distribute t-shirts, wristbands, and raffle tickets to students.

Fact Sheet Distribution

Monday, October 10

Distribute fact sheet.  (A half-page fact sheet with pertinent reminders regarding location, start time, shuttle bus schedule, etc. will be delivered to schools for distribution).

Walk Day

Saturday, October 15

Shuttle buses begin at 12:30pm from Chapel Hill High and McDougle Middle parking lots. Walkers gather at McCorkle Place on UNC campus by 1:45 pm. Walk begins at 2 pm. Carnival runs until 6 pm at Lincoln Center.
