Dear your school’s name Parents,

The 19th Annual Walk for Education will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 – rain or shine! The Walk starts at 2pm from McCorkle Place on the UNC campus and ends at a huge Carnival at Lincoln Center. There will be free shuttle buses starting at 12:30pm, so you don’t have to find parking on Franklin Street. Get to McCorkle Place by 1:30pm to find all the other your school’s mascot (plural) and get ready to walk!

The Walk is a fun, healthy event for the entire family sponsored by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation (PSF) as an opportunity for each school in the district to raise money for the project of their choice. The money we raise this year will be used to (describe your project)

The Walk for Education is a great fundraiser. The PSF gets corporate sponsors to underwrite most of the expenses including police officers, buses, and inflatables which means more money comes back to your school’s name. Other popular school fundraisers, such as book fairs and wrapping paper, only return 25-50% of proceeds. The Walk returns 85% of proceeds, making it a high-yield fundraiser as well as a school spirit booster and a fun event for the entire community.

Your school’s name will show our school spirit by marching down Franklin Street to a huge Carnival, where giant inflatables, games of chance, face painting, delicious food and more will be waiting. School clubs sponsor booths at the Carnival, and they keep 100% of the earnings.  Bring the family to enjoy the attractions and eat dinner! It’s a lot closer than the State Fair and it’s a fundraiser for a great cause – our public schools!

Everyone is invited to walk and enjoy the carnival regardless of whether or not they donate. There is a prize for the school demonstrating the most school spirit, so bring the whole family and prove that your school’s name is the best! (describe anything special you are going to do or wear)

How can you participate? It’s easy! Get sponsors to donate money for your child’s school. Fill out and return the donor envelope or donate online by Friday, September 25. Students registering after September 25 cannot be guaranteed their preferred t-shirt size.

Online registration and donation is easier this year than ever before. You can sign the permission slip, select your child’s t-shirt size, pay with a credit card and send an email to friends and family encouraging them to support the Walk all online - no need write a check and return the envelope.  Simply go to and click on the “Sign Up for the Walk” button on the right sidebar.

Consider giving at the $50 level to get an unlimited ride wristband! Or donate at the $100 level to be included in the amazing raffle. You could win an iPad mini, tickets to a UNC sporting event, a team autographed ball, restaurant gift certificates and much more. You do not have to be present to win raffle prizes. Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause even if you can’t be with us on October 10th.

(describe in-school incentives, if any)
